Service Description

New to strength training, been out of the game for a while, or have been training but hit a plateau or want to brush up on technique with a coach in-person? The Strength Fundamentals session covers everything you'll need to freshen up your strength training routine. Both beginners and intermediate lifters can benefit from this session. The session is designed for 1 to 2 participants so that Meg can work closely with you on your specific needs. She will meet you where you’re at and help build a fitness program that applies to your individual goals. Book for yourself for a highly discounted 1-on-1 focused PT session, or book with a buddy if you want to go through it together! Using dumbbells, barbells, bodyweight, and some additional cable accessories, Meg will lead you through progressive strength movements and variations for all muscle groups in the body. The fundamentals session is designed to help you form a foundation for strength training with proper technique and methodology so that you can feel comfortable working out on your own with correct form and programming. Meg will help then build on this to help you achieve your fitness goals. Beginners can expect to learn about mobility and muscle imbalances, correct technique for strength training movements, and what movements are best to start out with. More intermediate lifters can expect to learn how to build on the basics: progressing from dumbbell and bodyweight movements to barbells, and, for those familiar with barbell work, learning about form/technique cues that work for your body. Intermediate lifters can also benefit from learning about variations to volume, intensity, duration, or movement focus that will help bust through plateaus or build on your existing strength. Areas of focus: Mobility, warm-ups, and dealing with muscle imbalances. How to perform a variety of both compound (multi-muscle) and isolation (single-muscle) strength movements with dumbbells and barbells. How to program for strength training, including phasic training, mesocycles, and how to manipulate training variables (volume, frequency, intensity, specificity, duration, rest & recovery) to achieve your desired results. How to tailor your program for muscle growth, for weight loss, fat loss, muscle endurance, or muscle strength (whatever your desired goal!). An overview of fitness jargon for those who want it: what is a set? What is a rep? What is volume vs intensity? What is it to be 'yoked' vs 'toned'?
